The Unwritten Day
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
A mystery-horror time-loop one-shot for 3–5 players of 6th level
The town of Harrowfield is quiet. Ordinary. Unremarkable.
Until the morning repeats.
Players wake in the same beds. Eat the same breakfast at the Crooked Lantern. Watch the same day unfold around them.
The blacksmith hammers the same unfinished ploughshares.
The miller gives the same curt answers.
The bell in the square tolls—and the town falls into a single, unnatural pause.
Only the players remember.
Only the players can change what happens next.
This is not a puzzle solved with dice rolls or dialogue checks.
It is a day that must be understood.
Three independent anchors—each a different kind of problem—must be broken through recognition and action. When the final anchor falls, the shrine at the edge of town cracks open.
The loop ends.
What was contained is no longer contained.

Players: 3–5
Is This Module For You?
This is a DM-demanding adventure.
It requires:
- strict consistency across repeated days
- confident pacing without time tracking
- restraint in allowing players to discover the truth without guidance
If you prefer clear objectives, frequent combat, or modules that explain themselves, this may not be the best fit.
If your table enjoys:
- slow-burn mystery
- atmospheric horror
- the moment everything finally clicks
this is exactly what you’ve been looking for.
