This Expert Equipment Set is a major expansion to armaments, equipment, and wealth systems in the 2024 revision of Dungeons & Dragons. It reaches back to past editions for a full selection of items and mechanics that will make your game complete.
This page is merely an introduction and usage-guide to a multi-part supplement, which is comprised of separate products, three for players and one for the Dungeon Master:
- Expert Armament Manual. Hundreds of weapons and suits of armor, with illustrations for each, plus optional rules for their construction and use. This supplement expands the selection of weapon properties and mastery properties, giving mechanical effect to the way you customize your characters.
- Expert Tool & Gear Manual. This book greatly expands the available tools and adventuring gear, preparing you to meet every challenge, with exceptional focus on alchemical compounds and a balanced set of poison creation rules. True to the 2024 revision, each item has a description and concrete rules for its use.
- Expert Animals Manual. Tack, harness, and other equipment for animals, plus systems to recruit, train, and handle animals in a variety of useful roles for the party. This supplement concludes with five sidekick class variants for animals who become full members of the party.
- Expert Wealth Manual. This is the Dungeon Master’s definitive guide to wealth in its myriad forms, with help for easy, accurate, and reliable treasure distribution. The majority of the book handles two large expenses, land-holding and raising armies, with a more extensive Bastion system and—in all parts—a primary focus on story possibilities.
This supplement is grounded in five years of testing, with exceptional customer ratings across tens of thousands of downloads. Its parts have previously earned Mithral, Gold, and Electrum product ratings on the Dungeon Masters Guild. Everything in this full revision has been painstakingly updated over the last year. Early access to the new rules allows us to offer this four-part supplement alongside the official release of the 2024 Player’s Handbook.

WEAPONS AND ARMOR MANUAL
The Weapons and Armor Manual is the first part of the Expert Equipment Set, a major expansion to armaments, equipment, and wealth systems in the 2024 revision of Dungeons & Dragons. It reaches back to past editions for a full selection of items and mechanics that will make your game complete. Part 1 has four chapters:
- Chapter 1—Expert Weapons. Hundreds of weapons, with illustrations for each, plus optional rules for their use. This supplement expands the selection of weapon properties and mastery properties, giving mechanical effect to the way you customize your characters.
- Chapter 2—Expert Armor. This chapter expands the selection of armor and introduces a new system of additions to help you customize your character, plus optional rules for using armor.
- Chapter 3—Special Armaments. Three sets of exotic weapons types the Dungeon Master can incorporate into the game; extensive polearms, double weapons from past editions, and finely-tuned firearms in three tiers of technology. This chapter also has rules for crafting armaments with exceptional materials, ornamentation, and masterwork features.
- Chapter 4—Jade Throne. The illustrated weapons and armor in this optional chapter take inspiration from Feudal-era Japanese and Southeast Asian designs. The completeness of these armament lists makes them suitable for replacing regular weapons and armor in your campaign.



TOOL AND GEAR MANUAL
The Tool and Gear Manual is the second part of the Expert Equipment Set, a major expansion to armaments, equipment, and wealth systems in the 2024 revision of Dungeons & Dragons. It reaches back to past editions for a full selection of items and mechanics that will make your game complete. Part 2 has four chapters:
- Chapter 5—Adventuring Gear. With an adventuring gear list that spans two pages, the additional options in this chapter ensure that you’re ready for anything. Like the items in the 2024 Player’s Handbook, each of these has its own description and concrete rules.
- Chapter 6—Compounds. These are concoctions that usually come in a flask or vial—herbal curatives, utilitarian alchemical brews, and deadly poisons. When fully-magical potions aren’t on the table, these craftable compounds are perfect for any situation. The poison rules are particularly designed to unify and balance various 2024 poison systems like Basic Poison, the Poisoner feat, and the Poison benefit of the Rogue’s Cunning Strike feature.
- Chapter 7—Tools. The 2024 rules for tools read as incomplete, like they expect you to know the myriad examples given in Xanathar’s Guide to Everything. This chapter expands each tool to bring you that knowledge and more, and it adds a few rules to help you better use your Artisan’s Tools, Gaming Sets, and Musical Instruments.



VEHICLE AND ANIMAL MANUAL
The Vehicle and Animal Manual is the third part of the Expert Equipment Set, a major expansion to armaments, equipment, and wealth systems in the 2024 revision of Dungeons & Dragons. It reaches back to past editions for a full selection of items and mechanics that will make your game complete. Part 3 has three chapters:
- Chapter 8—Vehicles. This chapter has an expanded list of animal-drawn vehicles and three lists for large water vessels—standard ships, Age of Sail ships, and air ships. Along with these, it includes an optional rule for Vehicles as type of tool, a 2024 format that blends the old vehicle rules with systems suggested in Ghosts of Saltmarsh.
- Chapter 9—Animal Markets. This chapter gives an expanded list of creatures that can serve as mounts and prices a lot of common animals. It includes gear for animals—tack and harness—as well as a variety of trainable tricks and animal templates.
- Chapter 10—Using Animals. This chapter gives baseline behaviors for animals in several common scenarios and rules for handling them in those contexts. It helps you acclimate and train animals, manage their needs, and ride them in battle.
- Chapter 11—Sidekicks. When animals become true characters, filling out your party roster, these five sidekick varieties give them the ability to fill their roles using the rules for class advancement.



WEALTH AND BASTION MANUAL
The Wealth and Bastion Manual is the fourth part of the Expert Equipment Set, a major expansion to armaments, equipment, and wealth systems in the 2024 revision of Dungeons & Dragons. It reaches back to past editions for a full selection of items and mechanics that will make your game complete. Part 4 has three chapters:
- Chapter 12—Wealth. This chapter gives you an in-depth look at a wide variety of assets, both material and immaterial, helping you devise unique treasures that will excite your players. It provides a more-detailed (level-based) system for starting wealth on characters made at higher than 1st level, plus concrete systems for controlling treasure gains thereafter.
- Chapter 13—Land-Holding. This chapter supports a robust system for Bastions. It begins with concrete rules for property, structures, and the many Special Facilities that make land useful to adventurers. Then it overlays Bastions, a story-first system for automatic property growth and upgrades to Special Features that only player characters can use.
- Chapter 14—Tools of Warfare. Rules and costs for siege engines, collected from various official books and expanded with historical references, and an overview of the prohibitive costs of paying hirelings to fill an army, followed by achievable ways that player characters can lead troops. There is no warfare minigame here; the systems are light and focused on better stories for wartime campaigns.
