Synopsis
A small mountain-town mayor rewards the party with a crumbling three-storey manor, complete with attic, cellar, dumbwaiter, and hidden servants’ passages. One night, a character overhears two powerful devils outside plotting to seize the manor in three days and use it as a base to abduct townsfolk for a hellish army, far beyond the party’s ability to defeat in open battle. The manor sits on a weak planar seam, and the devils must first claim it as a lair, so they test how “cursed” or “dangerous” it feels before committing their forces. If the characters turn the house into a nightmarish deathtrap of pranks, illusions, and improvised hazards, the devils may judge it too much trouble, decide to bargain, or mark the place off-limits.
