The veil has shattered. In the frozen grip of the Northern Marches, the Lodge of the Hearthstone stands as the last flickering candle against an endless spiritual darkness. On the eve of the Winter Solstice—the longest night of the year—the spectral dead are drawn to the warmth of life.

Winter Solstice Siege: Assault on Yule is a harrowing Level 5 adventure that blends tactical resource management with intense survival horror. You were hired for protection, but this isn't a simple fight; it's a desperate, 14-hour countdown to survival.

The Siege: Dusk to Dawn

Hired by the mysterious Hearthkeeper Seraphi Thorne, your mission is simple in scope, but brutal in execution: Defend the Lodge and keep the sacred Yule Log burning.

From Dusk (5:00 PM) until Dawn (7:00 AM), you must endure 14 relentless, hourly waves of Geists, Specters, and Wraiths determined to extinguish the last sign of life.

Unique Survival Mechanics

This module introduces critical rules that redefine combat and challenge your party in new ways:

  • The Yule Log Intensity (YLI) System: The fire is your lifeblood and your weapon. The Yule Log’s Intensity acts as a dynamic buff against the spectral enemies, making them easier to hit and damage. But maintaining it requires constant resource management—every hour, you must spend precious wood to keep the flames roaring. If the YLI drops too low, the dead grow stronger, and the cold becomes overwhelming.

  • The Resolve System: It is not enough to protect your body; you must protect your mind. Spectral attacks and the pervasive psychic cold chip away at your party’s Resolve, a specialized mental endurance pool. As Resolve degrades, characters may gain permanent Scars of the Solstice like Nyctophobia or Deep Freeze Delusions, even if they survive the night.

  • Siege Structure: The module provides a clear, hour-by-hour breakdown of the attack waves, escalating difficulty, and scripted events, allowing the DM to focus on atmosphere and terror while the players focus on tactics.

    • Tier 3: Failed Defense (Overrun): Suffer permanent psychological scars and watch the Lodge be consumed by the cold.

  • New Enemies: Fight unique spectral threats like the Cold Wraith and the terrifying Dread Banshee.
