The Bastion of Light is a fighter subclass designed to allow players to utilize their shields as weapons. This version of the Subclass has been updated for use within the 2024 ruleset; the changes between this version and the former are mostly centered around the textual changes between both versions of the game. 

Wield your shield as a powerful weapon, and use your inner light to strengthen and empower your ally's defenses. Become a walking bastion of protection for your allies with the core feature of this subclass: Empower the Weak. Using this feature grants you and those you consider friendly Half Cover and periodic Temporary Hit points. As you progress through this subclass, you'll find that you can use your shield as a weapon more effectively than a sword, and you'll be able to shrug off potentially fatal blows.
