The Monk: The Warriors of the Shield Subclass for 2024 D&D 5e
The Warriors of the Shield is a homebrew Monk subclass for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, built for those who want to become masters of offense by focusing on the ultimate item of defense: the shield. These Monks have learned to wield the shield while not hampering the rest of their techniques but even to enhance them, harnessing the shield to block and redirect even more damage with their Deflect Attack, whip out the shield to strike out at greater reach with each Unarmed Strike or even an entire group of opponents, and turning their Patient Defense into a swift and unstoppable phalanx. Those of the Warriors of the Shield tradition see the shield as an extension of their own reflexes and skills.
This Subclass includes:
- Shield Arts. Wield a shield while not hampering the rest of your techniques, enhancing your Deflect Attack and pushing enemies around.
- Shield Dance. Hurl your shield and bounce it around a 20-foot-radius Sphere to damage and push enemies.
- Whipped Shield Defense. Move faster and reach further while under your Patient Defense.
- Phalanx. While under your Patient Defense, gain an additional resistance, strike back harder with Deflect Attack and even use Focus when you no longer have a Reaction for Deflect Attack.
