Burdens of the Flesh

Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild

This free supplement for 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons contains four new subclasses designed for use with the 2014 rules.

All of the subclasses below feature, in some way, a release from the cage of the mortal body, whether that is an escape into machinery, or the fabric of time, or even the minds and bodies of others.

But these subclasses are not simple copies-and-pastes of one another. All too often, you will find a homebrew subclass the likes of “the sorcerer who makes undead” or “the paladin who rides a dragon.” Those subclasses are awesome, and I have nothing but respect for those people who create and play with that content. However, I wanted to do something different. Most subclasses are made so that players who have been trying to play into a particular mechanic, theme, or gimmick can now do so properly. I tried to do things differently, making subclasses that lead to players completely rethinking how they approach the game. The caliber of my success is yours to judge, but I am extremely proud of my work, and I hope you have as much fun reading and playing with this content as I had making it.

Within you will find:

  • The Carrion Mimic rogue, who captures the souls of their victims, claiming their faces and knowledge for their own.
  • The Clockmaker artificer, who stores spells into timepieces that can be activated to be casted at a dely.
  • The Ophiomorphic Host paladin, who hosts an abusive, serpentine parasite within their stomach, which is not a pet but rather views their host as nothing more than a home.
  • The Watcher warlock, who invades the eyes of others to bring them misfortune.

Thank you for supporting small-scale, real human being creators such as myself. I’ll stop my ramblings now, and let you get into it.

Love you all!!
