The Night of Veils
Halloween is coming, and the veil between the living and dead is about to tear.
The Night of Veils is a dark adventure of fear, madness, and creeping despair. Designed for four 3rd-level heroes who should reach 4th level by its climax, this seven-day tale unfolds in the fog-choked village of Lortmil Hollow, deep in the world of Greyhawk. It can easily be placed in any campaign setting—all you need is a forgotten village on the edge of an old forest.
The story follows the final days before the Night of Veils—a festival once filled with song and harvest, now curdled into dread. Each year the omens worsen: crops wither, strange lights move through the trees, and villagers vanish without a trace. This year, the veil thins too far—and something answers from the dark.
The adventure pits the heroes against Mora Weft, a betrayed seamstress turned night hag, returning to exact vengeance on the Hollow that once cast her out. The ever-thickening fog, the silence between thunderclaps, and the unease in every shadow make this a perfect tale to run as the nights grow long—or when your table hungers for horror.
Should the heroes survive, they may inherit a wonder from the nightmare itself: a sentient, walking hut with a will of its own. But to claim it is no simple feat—it must choose them.
This is not an adventure for the weak-hearted or the squeamish. The Night of Veils is a story of courage tested, sanity strained, and survival paid for in blood.
